Fort Worth Date Night: Life is Actually a Picnic

by Michael Bloomberg
June 3, 2010

It doesn't take a genius to realize that when it comes to being one half of a couple in a relationship, you need to be ready to pull your own weight. This doesn't require a ton of work, but, it does require some thought. One of the biggest complaints I hear from women is they don't feel courted like they once were.

This really is an easy fix. Three words: Just. Plan. Something. And, if that "something" happens to lean toward the romantic side, all the better. Check out any romantic comedy and the ending is usually the same. Guy gets girl. Girl gets guy. It doesn't matter what year this movie came out. The formula is always the same and, basically, if it ain't broke...why fix it?

The same goes in real life. A guy can't go wrong with romance. Ask anyone off the street on what they would define as romantic and some of those answers would probably be things like roses, a love song, watching The Notebook or a picnic. And there is no better time to plan a picnic than right now in Fort Worth.

To coincide with Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Concerts in the Garden Summer Music Festival at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Eddie V's has taken all the hard work out being romantic. Eddie V's is once again offering their three-course picnic dinners (to-go) through Sunday, July 4, 2010.

Here's how it works. For a mere $25.00 per dinner, you get to pick one from each of the following categories:

Salad/Appetizer:

Caesar salad

Shrimp cocktail

Fuji apple salad

Entree:

Seafood salad

Seared salmon with asparagus and pomery honey mustard vinaigrette

Grilled chicken with wild mushrooms and marinated tomatoes

Grilled vegetable salad with rice and beurre blanc

Dessert:

Fresh seasonal berries with whipped cream

Coconut cream pie

To order an Eddie V’s summer picnic, call (817) 336-8000 or emailEVMuseumplace@eddiev.com by 2:00 p.m. day of show. Guests may pick up their orders between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the performance evening.

Not planning on going to the Concerts in the Garden? No worries. Once you leave Eddie V's, your meal is yours to do with as you wish. Surprise her with dinner on the table? Done. Have a special park bench where the two of you shared your first kiss? Done. Have her come home, put on her jammies and serve up dinner in bed? Done, done and done.

Kudos to Eddie V's for thinking of us guys when we need to be romantic other than when it's expected like Valentine's Day, anniversaries and birthdays. You have probably never thought of July 4th as a romantic holiday. Picture this: You two laying on a blanket in the middle of theBotanic Garden. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra playing the most well-known patriotic music under the stars. The night culminating with one of the most amazing fireworks shows right above your head. And the best part...the whole evening is beautifully tied together with a three-course meal from Eddie V's. No cooking, no cleaning dishes and you are now nominated for entry into the Romance Hall of Fame. Thank you, Eddie V's.

Eddie V’s is located at
